This sounds so cheesy, but it’s really important to me. I have to write drafts on paper (except this one, I’m lazy), and sometimes, I have to make a big mess to find my way through something. I’m a big proponent of the messy desk, and I fully believe in leaving stuff wherever you set it down in your creative space. There is no order in  creativity; a startling kind of order emerges from  creativity. Where order already exists, there is no creativity.

And paper. Paper is so  important to me. I can’t compose on a computer (except now, writing this). I need the visceral connection. I can’t explain it. Just look and be converted.
